Day 7: Delco Park- 5/24/19

Today we walked to Delco park. But before we were let loose, a guest speaker, Rob E. Boley, came to talk to us about writing. He is a horror/fantasy writer. He taught us about metaphors, and we then walked around the park to get inspired by nature and write metaphors. Here are a few of mine-

"The fish were little bullets, zooming back and forth."

"The algae was a soft blanket, mysteriously concealing the pond floor."

"The pine's gloomy leaves droop with a pain built up over countless years."

I got inspired by the fish, the algae, and a pine tree. I not only walked around and observed these things, I also noticed what they reminded me of and what they made me feel. This helped me create interesting and unique metaphors.

We then did the "Small World" assignment, where we focus on a small section of the grass/ground, and try to see an enlarged version of it. You have to use your imagination to do so. But instead of just analyzing or observing the section, appreciate it and use you imagination. When I did this, I noticed that a small patch of grass looked like a deep forest, with entangled vines at the bottom. Doing this activity helped me notice the beauty in the simple things.

After this, we played "Newcomb", a variation of volleyball, which was very fun. Overall it was a very fun day. Here are some pictures from today-
