Today we first wrote a "Haiga" based off the pictures we took yesterday at the pond. A Haiga is usually a short poem that is aesthetically incorporated into a painting. We made contemporary Haigas, which use photographs instead of paintings. The Haiga I created is based off a picture of yellow flowers.

We then went to the Cox Arboretum to spend time with nature. My friends and I still took pictures, but we tried our best to listen to nature and to spend less time on our phones. While doing this, I realized that I took many things in nature for granted. For example, I closed my eyes and listened to the sounds of nature. Like the birds chirping, the leaves rustling, the water moving, and the croaks and ribbits from the frogs and toads. I never before noticed the beauty in these simple, yet calming sounds. As I was listening, I also was looking around, and noticed how beautifully the sun streamed through the branches of the trees, how the shimmering water moved, and how the flowers bloomed. I didn't really notice this simple beauty, and I took it for granted. Because of this trip, I realized that the simple things are so beautiful, and that nature has so many simple things.

We then came back from our field trip, and did yoga or meditation. Below are some pictures from our field trip.
